ACE-IT Helps Two Graduates Become Journeyman Carpenters By 19

Two former students, Travis and Levi Seffzig, were awarded $1,000 Secondary School Apprenticeship scholarships from the Industry Training Authority at the May 15, 2012 public meeting of the SD72 Board of Education.

Both Travis and Levi became secondary school apprenticeship students in grade 10 and apprenticed under their father, completing their level one carpentry training by the end of grade 10.

In grade 11, they went into the ACE-IT carpentry program, completing their level two and three training prior to graduating last June.

By November 2011, they completed their level four training and earned their journeyman carpentry ticket. A tremendous accomplishment as Travis and Levi have just turned 19 years old!

ACE-IT enables students to earn both secondary school graduation credits and get a head start on earning credentials in a trade or technology field. School District 72 has partnered with North Island College to make these programs available to secondary school students.

Students and parents wishing to learn more about ACE-IT should speak with their school's career facilitator.
